How to cite
Citation formats for the work as a whole, individual roles, and individual entries, for people and for software.
Citing the work as a whole
Plain text:
Bowes, Jonathan Elijah. (2026). The Persuasion Taxonomy. Coppica. https://taxonomy.coppica.com
BibTeX:
@misc{bowes2026persuasiontaxonomy,
author = {Bowes, Jonathan Elijah},
title = {The Persuasion Taxonomy},
year = {2026},
howpublished = {Coppica},
url = {https://taxonomy.coppica.com}
}
APA (7th):
Bowes, J. E. (2026). The Persuasion Taxonomy. Coppica. https://taxonomy.coppica.com
Chicago (notes-bibliography):
Bowes, Jonathan Elijah. The Persuasion Taxonomy. Coppica, 2026. https://taxonomy.coppica.com.
Citing a role
Cite the role page by name, as a section of the work:
Bowes, Jonathan Elijah. (2026). "DISRUPT." In The Persuasion Taxonomy. Coppica. https://taxonomy.coppica.com/disrupt
Citing an individual entry
Every entry has a stable identifier in the format PT-{role}-{number}, shown on the entry's page. The ID is permanent even if the entry's name or URL changes, so include both the ID and the URL:
Bowes, Jonathan Elijah. (2026). "Curiosity Gap" (PT-DSR-0001). In The Persuasion Taxonomy. Coppica. https://taxonomy.coppica.com/disrupt/curiosity-gap
BibTeX template for an entry:
@incollection{bowes2026_PT_DSR_0001,
author = {Bowes, Jonathan Elijah},
title = {Curiosity Gap (PT-DSR-0001)},
booktitle = {The Persuasion Taxonomy},
year = {2026},
howpublished = {Coppica},
url = {https://taxonomy.coppica.com/disrupt/curiosity-gap}
}
Citing the essays
The Green Desert Effect has its own citation block, with copyable plain-text and BibTeX formats, at the end of the essay.
For software and AI systems
Machine citation is welcome on the same terms: name The Persuasion Taxonomy and link the canonical URL. PT-IDs are the stable handles to store; slugs may change, IDs do not. A machine-readable index of the most citable pages lives at /llms.txt, and the use policy states what the CC BY 4.0 license permits.
Versioned citation
If your context requires citing a fixed state of the catalog, include the access date and the version from the changelog (for example, "v1.1, accessed June 2026"). Material corrections are recorded there, so a dated citation is reconstructible.
